http://www.jsonar.org
is free really? or is is try software

To my knowledge, blind people still are unable to use logic or reason (I still agonize over it till this day). The sounds themselves are worth it alone. :(
Sonar should be very usable with the JSonar scripts. They are free and fully functional.

I use sonar five and six producer with the cake talking scripts. although the j sonar scripts are good as well. What styles? I don't quite get that question. Sonar is a multi track audio and midi DAW application. If your question was refering to the on board soft synths etc, they're mostly geared towards pop, electronica, and hip hop. However, i don't use any of the stock virtual instruments. i do however use some of the stock effects plug ins and they are quite nice.

I wouldn't use the soft synths in sonar alone to compose music for any production. i also would not buy sonar merely for the virtual instruments. It's a great sequencer and multi track DAW though. it is very accessible. as far as good virtual instruments that are accessible, hypersonic 2 and the symthogy ivory grand pianos virtual instrument are fantastic!

lol Excuse my ignorence but is sonar like cakewalk? And is it free or do you have to pay a bunch of money for it? lol And have any of you tried using acid pro with jaws and does it work? I don't understand the whole thing about loops and am hoping to learn. lol

Hi. sonar is actually made by cake walk. Interestingly enough, i started my digital music creation using cake walk pro audio nine back in the day. lol. sonar is based on that same layout and engine but many things are improved. I use producer edition but the studio edition is cheaper and you can still accomplish a lot with it. It just doesn't include the bells and whistles that sonar producer does. There are great scripts and tutorials from dancing dots and there are free jaws scripts for sonar called the j sonar scripts. I do a lot of work with loops and samples in sonar and it works fine. The learning curve isn't too bad if you have at least a basic working knowledge of digital audio. Acid is not accessible with jfw. Sorry. but as I said, working with loops in sonar with jaws is not bad at all. I can give you lessons on that when you get sonar if you like.

i will buy sonar
uhm how about soundcart use with sonar?

Post 10 by guitargod1 (I'm going for the prolific poster awards!) on Saturday, 23-Jun-2007 13:24:01

If you're using jaws, you need a second sound card. either buy sonar five or six, studio or producer edition. Do you have a desktop or a laptop? I'll give you some card recommendations.

any advice?

Post 12 by guitargod1 (I'm going for the prolific poster awards!) on Saturday, 23-Jun-2007 22:22:29

Okay, the delta ten ten wants to be your playback and recording card for sonar and other audio apps. your creative card wants to be the card for everything else. So in control panel, sounds and audio devices, on the audio page, be sure to set the creative card as the default playback device and the recording device needs to be set to the delta ten ten.

ah, yes, you need a second soundcard. once you get it, the installation is quite straight forward. However, you need to follow the directions because if you don't, it could result in the drivers not being installed properly.

Post 21 by nongKee (Veteran Zoner) on Tuesday, 26-Jun-2007 19:48:32

i must install driver first beofre i'm connect sound cart to the u s b?

Post 24 by guitargod1 (I'm going for the prolific poster awards!) on Wednesday, 27-Jun-2007 21:58:58

www.musiciansfriend.com make sure you get sonar six studio or producer. don't buy home studio because that version doesn't function the same with a screen reader!

Why would you need a second sound card I wonder? I'm thinking of getting a mixer. Would I still use programs such as sonar and sound forge? I don't really get all this digital stuff. Is there a site where I can read up on it? I think I'd need something really simple cause I really don't know anything about making music digitally. I'd love to hear samples of some things people have made just so I can see what it is like. Would anyone be willing to send me something?
I've also tried working with cakewalk audio 9 but I really don't get that program at all. I understand it's sort of like audacity but even with the help menus, I still had trouble.
